Was suspicious this place was going to be a Denny's in disguise for food, and divey for interior. Instead the food is really delicious and the interior is spacious, clean lines, minimalist, like you're at a lakeside cabin hotel. Surprised me! It's dark inside, but there's a patio out front if you want some sunshine. There's TVs and some darts as well. -Kalbi Lettuce Wraps 9.95 so expensive, but so goooood. I love anything kalbi. -Chef's Carte: Beef Medallions 15.95 was expensive but also really delicious. I usually avoid steak but these were just right for me in texture and size. I couldn't take any good photos because it was so dark inside. There are so many interesting choices on the menu, same kind of pub food, but different spin on it. Just wished it weren't so pricey. -Not your Mama's Deviled Eggs 8.95 the bacon was absolutely delicious. a little sweet and crunchy. the deviled eggs itself was OK. not the best I've ever had, but certainly satisfying. If you're in the neighborhood, by all means, avoid the McDonald's and drop by here instead. If you're from out of town or from the city, not necessary to drive through traffic to get here. Same if not better quality can be found in the city.

Eh, it was OK. We've driven by Pub 42 a few times and it always appears to be packed. So we decided to try it out. The interior is pretty relaxed -- kind of a Southern bar theme with lots of rustic wood and such. It's big, I'll give it that. We were seated right away in a booth. Our server was fine. The beer list was OK with at least a few decent options. I got a Crispin, which for some reason came in a humongous pint glass (like way bigger than a normal pint and way bigger than my husband's beer). We got a cheeseburger, which was fine and cooked to my stated preference. It was very clearly a preformed patty that was either frozen or bought in patty form. Very standard. My husband got the fish tacos, which he said were severely over-seasoned. Likewise, the fries were also really heavily salted and seasoned. It's a bar. It's bar food. I get it. But I was literally chugging water all night to try to stop from feeling like I'd eaten a salt lick. Not sure we will be back very soon.

First off, I have visited Pub 42 a dozen times and overall the food is great. The shrimp tacos are my absolute favorite here. However, avoid the dessert donut holes, they were raw in the middle and just not very good. Service... by far the service is better in the bar area vs the dining room. I would highly recommend sitting in the bar area. In the dining room, the management does not seem to be organized at all. There are always people running around not sure what to do. Drinks take quite awhile to be replenished in the dining room. There is an older woman that works at the host stand on week days, she is very unpleasant to deal with. I've encountered her several times, she is very rude. Walk right past her, take a right and head to the bar area! Overall, this bar was opened by the founders of Champps and Granite City, so they know what they are doing when it comes to the food. The customer service needs work.

This is a great establishment with delicious food and generous portions. I actually heard about them as they sponsored a softball event in new hope and were handing out these candy apple bacon sliders which were amazing! My buddy has one rule, if there are deviled eggs on the menu you have to order them! They have some awesome spicy deviled eggs which were a great start to our meal! Took a whole group of people after a big snowstorm for drinks, food, and bingo and had a great time!

Been here a few times since it changed to Pub 42, and the food is delicious. The portions are big and I've been impressed with both the quality and the menu selections. Yes, they DO have steak. I had an amazing prime rib grilled cheese sandwich there last week. It was a nice slab of prime rib with lots of gooey white cheddar on sourdough bread- yum!! Our server, Jordan, was really sweet and treated us like VIPs. I liked the Sunshine Factory, But Pub 42 is even better.

Pub 42 was recommended to me by a coworker. My girlfriend and I decided to give it a ry this past Friday (2/27/15). We walked in and spent the first several minutes being ignored by the hostess(es). I finally had to approcah them and ask if there was a list or ??? She offered what seemed like a quick and insincere apology. Little did I know that things were going downhill from there. Maybe I had the same hostess as Jessie K did... While waiting, we decided to grab a drink from the bar where I had to give instructions to the bartender on how to make a French Martini. Something I didn't think was all that rare. The two of us were finally seated in a booth that was built for about 8 people but I guess I didn't mind that - seemed like a waste of dining room space to me though. The waitress actually had to come to the other side of the booth to take our order because the booth was so wide. So...we started with the "Not your Momma's Deviled Eggs" - well, the were accurate on that. They were far worse than home made deviled eggs. They seemed to be made from pidgeon eggs based on the size. The flavor was bland and they seemed to have been left out too long uncovered in the refridgerator as they were dry on the top. The waitress (Jordan) asked how they were and when I replied they needed paprika on top she gave me a look that led me to believe that she had NO clue what paprika was. My girlfriend ordered the broiled walleye - I will give them credit (and the second star) for this. This dish was the highlight of the evening. It was fresh, well cooked, and very moist. The sides of mashed yukon gold potatoes and asparagus were well cooked and well seasoned too. My dish on the other hand was a complete disaster. I ordered the prime rib (for 24 or 26 dollars, I don't recall exactly. Jordan asked how I wanted it prepared and I replied mid-rare to rare. It came out a horrible shade of gray and the only thing close to being rare was the temperature. It was overcooked, the baked potato was also very overcooked and leathery in parts. The au jus was tepid, and nearly clear. It resembeled dirty dish water more closely than au jus. There was virtually no flavor to the prime rib and none to the au jus. Overall I was NOT impressed with Pub 42. Honestly, I have had a better steak at Champps and the one I had there was horrible. I guess I should know better than to order steak at anything other than a steak specialty restaurant. Lesson learned.
